Every number on this site is read from a named source with a date, and the page shows when it was last checked. A fact past its review date stops the site from being published until it is checked again.
Tariff numbers by digit length
Every numbered line of the current schedule is grouped by the length of its number with the dots removed; the level each length means is stated from the schedule's own structure.

Column 2 rates of duty by chapter
For each chapter the ten-digit lines whose column 2 rate differs from the general rate are counted and the most common column 2 rate is shown, re-derived from the current schedule at every export.

Customs tariff: rates of duty by chapter
For each chapter the ten-digit lines of the current schedule are counted, the share whose general rate reads Free is computed, and the most common dutiable general rate is shown; every figure is re-derived from the schedule at every export.

Harmonized code list: every chapter of the schedule
The chapter numbers and titles are transcribed from the Harmonized System nomenclature published by the World Customs Organization, cross-checked against the headings of the United States schedule; the heading and line counts and the duty-free share are computed from the current release of the schedule at every export.

Subheadings and tariff lines by section
Every numbered line of the current schedule is placed under its section through the chapter table; six-digit numbers are counted as subheadings, the level shared by every country that uses the Harmonized System and the level a shipment is declared at abroad, and ten-digit numbers as the United States' own tariff lines, with the share of those lines whose general rate is Free. Sections are listed in the nomenclature's order.

HTS heading 9903: its subheadings and the duties they add
Chapter 99 has no ten-digit lines: its numbered lines are eight digits long and sit under six-digit subheadings. For heading 9903 each subheading is listed with the first line under it and that line's description, the count of eight-digit lines it holds, and the duty text that appears most often across those lines; every figure is re-derived from the current schedule at every export.

What changed in the tariff schedule
The newest quarterly download of the schedule is compared line by line with the one before it, by tariff number. A number present in only one release is added or removed; a number in both releases with a different general rate, column 2 rate or description is one row per difference, with the value before and after. Lines without a number are headings whose text the numbered lines already carry. Both download dates are stated on the page, and the rows are re-derived from the two downloads at every publish, never edited.
